On October 11, 2026, the Dr S.B. Radebe Foundation hosted the first instalment of its Peace and Health Walk series in Durban, Emazweni (KwaZulu-Natal). This event was also aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer.
The 6 km walk began at King Dinizulu Park and concluded at Sunkist Lawn Park, attracting over 600 participants. Notable attendees included Mr Sibusiso Lushaba, a ward councillor for South and North Beach; Mr Vukani Msomi Ixopo, Councillor; Ms Lilian Dube; Prince Thulani Zulu; and Undlunkulu, Undlunkulo of the Mthethwa royal house.
Established in 2013, the Dr S.B. Radebe Foundation initially focused on supporting vulnerable populations and providing shelter and counselling for individuals who have been drawn into prostitution due to various circumstances. The foundation is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those it serves, promoting generational transformation towards spiritual, social, health, and economic emancipation for Africans.
Under the leadership of Inkosi Yamakhosi Omoya, Imboni Dr. uZwi-Lezwe Radebe, the foundation has identified four main focus areas: Social and Community Upliftment, Education and Knowledge Development, Health, Fitness and Wellness, and Economic Development.
The Health and Peace walks align with the foundation’s mission to promote a healthy lifestyle among African communities. “You cannot be healthy in spirit and neglect the body; a spiritual person understands the importance of maintaining a healthy body, as it is the body that carries the spirit,” stated Inkosi Yamakhosi Omoya Imboni Dr. uZwi-Lezwe Radebe.
Inkosi Yomoya further emphasised that the Dr S.B. Radebe Foundation operates independently, relying on support from members of The Revelation spiritual community to assist those who are less privileged within both their spiritual home and the broader community.
Mam Lillian Dube, a breast cancer survivor, took the stage to emphasise the importance of self-examination and regular medical check-ups. “It is important to always examine your breasts for any unfamiliar textures,” said Mam Lillian Dube.
She also highlighted that while breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women, they should not overlook other forms of cancer, such as cervical cancer. “Cervical cancer is as dangerous as breast cancer. In many cases, cervical cancer occurs when a female engages in sexual activities at a very young age. Therefore, I implore young girls not to engage in sexual activities until they are of the right age,” she advised.
To celebrate Mam Lillian’s work and support her involvement in various organisations, a donation of R10,000 was made. Dr S.B. Radebe takes pride in collaborating with community leaders, government departments, and the community to foster a mutually beneficial relationship.
Mr. Sibusiso Lushaba, the councillor for the South and North Beach area, expressed his gratitude to Inkosi Yamakhosi Omoya and the foundation for their contributions to the community. He commended Inkosi Yomoya for guiding Amasosha and the wider community, stating, “We are grateful to the blue nation and wish for its growth. I know that Amasosha are disciplined and respect guidance. When a disciplined nation grows, it makes our job easier.”
Mr Vukani Msomi, a former councillor for Point South Beach, spoke about the commendable work done by Inkosi Yomoya and the foundation during his tenure. “During the xenophobic attacks here in KZN, when we assisted many foreign nationals in moving to safe locations, it was this foundation that was the first to donate food to those in need. During COVID-19, when we faced a severe shortage of PPE and sanitisers, it was this organisation that extended a helping hand first,” said Msomi.
He added that it would be unjust to deny such an organisation the approval to host impactful community events, especially considering the significant work it has done.
The event also served as an opportunity for participants to learn about health issues, self-defence, and to enjoy performances from renowned artists like Blaq Diamond, Mjoli, and others.
The next health walk will be in Gauteng, Johannesburg. For more information, follow the Dr S.B Radebe Foundation on social media.
