The Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD -Africa) held Africa Spiritual Day in Nigeria’s Calabar at the Christian Central Chapel International on April 16 2023 with the topic Ubuntu in a family setting.
Spiritual & Religious leaders from various faith traditions came together as one to enlighten the divine destiny and intercede for Africa. These leaders shared their understanding on the topic of this month’s Africa Spiritual Day.
The world got to learn that in African culture, it is accepted that families are embedded safely in a community. A presentation by African Hidden Voices dwelled into research conducted by different scholars who have documented the ways in which Ubuntu is expressed in a family setting in different parts of Africa. This bearing testament to the fact that Africa is the birthing place of unity as it is embodied firstly in the homes of different African tribes then manifested to those outside these homes.
The fact however remains to say that Africans have lost their sense of being which has also buried the crucial and unique qualities of Africa. IAPD-Africa’s initiative towards educating the world of African Spirituality aids the need of spiritual Education from authentic indigenous spiritual guiders and leaders.
The Refuge and Fortress Mass Choir from the Christian Central Chapel International gave the audience a gospel quartet along side Stevovo SA’s latest hit single, Sabela.
And again Africa Spiritual Day was a success with the world getting to understand what spirituality is in the African perspective.
