On 14 October 2026, Dr S.B. Radebe, founder of the Dr S.B. Radebe Foundation, was honoured by the Nyatee Impact Foundation at the State of the NPO Address, held in partnership with Soweto Theatre. The award recognised his outstanding philanthropic work and longstanding commitment to uplifting African communities across the continent.
A dedicated philanthropist, Dr Radebe has spent 13 years using the foundation to address social challenges, restore dignity and improve the lives of vulnerable members of society. His work reflects a commitment to ensuring that those in need have access to essential support and opportunities to build better lives.
Through the foundation, his philanthropic efforts include providing bursaries to academically excelling children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, running feeding schemes to combat hunger, and supporting former sex workers in rebuilding their lives and reintegrating into society. These initiatives form part of the foundation’s broader mission to address community needs and uplift African people.
The event brought together non-profit organisations working to address societal challenges, while providing a platform to discuss the sustainability, governance, compliance and funding challenges facing South Africa’s non-profit sector.
Dr Radebe’s recognition celebrates more than a decade of philanthropy and service. It highlights his continued dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of African people and his belief that everyone deserves dignity, support and an opportunity to thrive.
