On April 18 and 19 2025, The Lyric Theater hosted thousands of theartre enthusiasts for the enthralling Spirit King Play by Africa Creations.


The lively stage adaptation was set in motion in 2024 where it premiered at The Play House Theater, Emazweni (KZN), narrating the early life of Imboni Dr. uZwi-Lezwe Radebe as a spiritual guider bestowed with the mandate to restore African Indigenous Spirituality.
Imboni Dr. uZwi-Lezwe Radebe’s spiritual journey serves as the initial source of inspiration for Mbongeni Moroke, playwright and director who founded Africa Creations, with the aim to retell the spiritual occurrences of Africa’s spirituality in the most authentic and educational sense.
Skhumba’s sharp wit and fearless humour set the crowd into entertainment mode as he set the shows in motion through his chucklesome talent.

Expressing the art of music through the inspiration of the essense of African Indigenous Spirituality, Andiswa Msebenzi performed some tracks of her iGolide album.

The play, utilizing the spiritual wisdom of African indigenous spirituality and a vision for restoration, Imboni serves as a beacon of hope and illumination for a new age of African identity and pride. It features scenes that depict the formative years of Imboni Dr. uZwi-Lezwe Radebe while also honoring the ancient African Iimboni who have been silenced and labeled as heretics.The Spirit King play functions not merely as a performance; it acts as a reminder for Africans to reconnect with their native spirituality.
