On Saturday, March 22, 2025, a momentous milestone was achieved as the African Association for Indigenous Spirituality (AAFIS) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Religions Initiative (URI-Africa) represented by Ambassador Mussie Hailu, who is the Regional Director, in Orlando Stadium, Johannesburg.
URI serves as a powerful advocate for interfaith cooperation, aiming to eradicate religiously motivated violence and cultivate lasting cultures of peace, justice, and healing for our planet and all its inhabitants.
The event was attended by various royal families, including the notable Ingonyama yamaHlubi King Langalibalele II, King Melizwe Mthethwa, and Prince Thulani Zulu from the Zulu Royal House, as well as members of the TRSH Upper House and Council, and the executive committee of African Hidden Voices. Their presence underscores the significance of this collaboration.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Imboni Dr. uZwi-Lezwe Radebe, who is the visionary founder and Chairman of AAFIS, and Ambassador Mussie Hailu, representing URI-Africa.Both organizations are united in their fervent understanding that spirituality is key to transforming the chaos the world faces today.
Together, they are poised to rekindle Africa’s rich spiritual heritage.Ambassador Mussie Hailu articulated his profound appreciation for this collaboration, expressing optimism about Africa’s future. He emphasized that spirituality must reclaim its rightful place in guiding human progress. “Our partnership with URI-Africa highlights the urgent necessity to accelerate the revival of Africa’s spirituality.
Our joint efforts will be presented to the United Nations, advocating for Africa’s full liberation. This alliance will ensure the continent’s intrinsic potential is unleashed,” asserted Imboni with unwavering conviction.
The signing of this agreement marks not just a commitment between two organizations, but a shared vision for a better future—one rooted in spirituality, cooperation, and the promise of renewal for all of Africa.
