On the 28th of September 2025 (AC) the Dr S.B Radebe foundation hosted the projects world cup at the Boksburg stadium in Johannesburg.
The games leading to the finals where intense and dedicated to wining the trophy and claiming the title 2025 of project World Cup winners. The semi finals saw Gauteng take on Mpumalanga with Gauteng being the crowds favourite because of jersey no.9’s impressive footwork and team spirit leading Imboni to scoring the first goal of the day.
The atmosphere from the fans and the players was that of resilience and eagerness to claim the cup. The team that reached the finals where Zimbabwe and Ezenzweni. The game became tense when both teams defended and attacked without giving in. Which led the game moving to penalties.
Ezenzweni became the lead on the score board scoring the first three goals, the emotion of defeat slowly creeped up the faces of the fans of Zimbabwe but the Zim team didn’t give up they fought with the confidence that they will raise the champions cup, indeed Zimbabwe emerged victorious winning the tournament 4-3 against Ezenzweni.
The netball side of the tournament also pulled in spactators from different parts of the continent with Gauteng claiming the Project World Cup 2025 title.
This has got to be the biggest and most anticipated games of the games hosted by The Dr S.B Radebe foundation, from the marketing of the tournament to the organising of the tournament.
Zimbabwe, proved to be the crowds favourite with the young player, top goal keeper as well as coach of the tournament awards going to Zimbabwe. Netball players were also awarded individual awards for young player of the tournament, top goal scorer as well as player of the tournament.
