To speak on the theme of the day panellists consisted of prominent women by the likes of Her Excellency Mrs Tobeka Madiba-Zuma, Music maestro Ms Abigail Kubheka, and TV legend Ms Nandi Nyembe and Ms Thembi Tulwana a senior Leader of TRSH. following the theme of the event the speakers spoke about what it meant to be a parent as a woman. “Parenting is not only about raising your own children it is also about extending your motherly role to children outside of your household” said Mrs Zuma she went on to say that if mothers refrain from only paying attention to their biological children, the concept and existence of ipara in our societies would seize to exist. Ms Nandi Nyembe a renowned South African and international actress spoke about how she was forced to become a mother at a very young age but how being a mother taught her to love unconditionally and also taught her the power she also spoke how motherhood taught her the profoundness of sacrifice. The role of parenting is times interwoven with child bearing as should be, however, modern societal norms have skilfully re structured the concept of parenting. Parenting too many is viewed as being financially capable but that is only half of the matter, parenting is an entire concept. It entails detailed involvement in lives of one’s children be it that they are biologically related to you or not. Parenthood entails displaying characteristics of taught love in the event that you need to discipline a child for their own good. Imboni Dr uZwi-Lezwe Radebe highlighted the spiritual position of a woman in a household and by extension in society “A woman is the centre of the home” Imboni said Imboni went on to say that “The religious explanation of a woman has played a significant role patriarchal tendencies by males” Imboni further said that African Indigenous spirituality has always been clear about the role of women in the world and it contradicts that of religion. The event was emotional thought provoking and gratifying spiritually. On a more lighter note Mam Abigail performed an enserenated assemble that spoke about the love of a mother.
