Invitees to the launch of Isambulo Sama-Afrika radio station.
October 4, 2026, Isambulo Sama-Afrika launched Isambulo Radio Station, an online community radio station, in Marshalltown, Johannesburg, on Sunday, marking another step towards establishing an African-centred presence in the media space.
The launch was attended by HSRM Imboni Dr uZwi-Lezwe Radebe, founder of Isambulo Sama-Afrika Radio; Mr Takalani Nemangowe, station manager of Alex FM; Mr Shabba from Mzansi; African Transformation Movement (ATM) mayoral candidate Vuyolwethu Zungula; United Democratic Alliance (UDM) mayoral candidate Mr Yongama Zigebe; Africa Mayibuye Movement Ward councillor candidate Ms Emmarentia Ngwenya; recording artists Stevovo and Dangerbox; and other guests.
The launch is another initiative by His Spiritual Royal Majesty (HSRM) Imboni Dr uZwi-Lezwe Radebe, founder and leader of The Revelation Spiritual Home (TRSH), to enter the media space and ensure that information about Africa, her people and her identity is disseminated to communities without being falsely narrated or distorted.
“Today, we take another significant step with the launch of Isambulo Radio Station. Its foundation is simple: We must be able to speak for ourselves,” said HSRM Imboni Dr uZwi-Lezwe Radebe.
Radio has always played an important role in society. As one of the most accessible forms of mass communication, it has bridged vast distances, connected communities and provided people with information.
However, radio has also been used as a propaganda medium, with media platforms at times becoming instruments through which particular narratives are promoted, and public perceptions are shaped. The ability to determine which stories are told, which voices are amplified and how communities are represented gives the media significant power in shaping society.
It is from this stance that Isambulo Radio enters the media space, with the intention of creating a platform through which Africans can tell their own stories and contribute to the narrative about Africa and her people.

Reflecting on the relationship between Alex FM and HSRM Imboni, Dr uZwi-Lezwe Radebe, Takalani Nemangowe, Alex FM station manager, said the station had been present from the early stages of the idea.
“We have come a long way with Imboni; Alex FM was there when the idea was still being conceptualised. We are very excited and happy for this historic milestone,” said Nemangowe.
Nemangowe further emphasised the importance of Africans creating their own platforms to tell their stories, saying the station would be used to tell “our stories, because no one tells our stories.”

While the station’s mandate is centred on telling African stories from an African perspective, Isambulo Radio has also incorporated youth development into its vision.
The station is opening opportunities for young people who may not have experience in the broadcasting industry but have the passion and willingness to learn. Young people will have opportunities to become presenters, producers and technical crew members, including working behind the desk.

The station will also provide emerging musicians with an opportunity to showcase their talent and have their music heard by a wider audience.
Isambulo Radio is an Afrocentric radio station focused on the spiritual dimension of Africa and her people. It is positioned not only as a talk and music station but also as a progressive Afrocentric lifestyle brand rooted in African spirituality.

The station seeks to represent Black success, excellence, leadership and self-confidence, while promoting a deeper connection to African identity and heritage.
With its launch, Isambulo Sama-Afrika has expanded its presence in the media space, creating another platform through which African stories can be told, young talent can be developed, and emerging artists can be given an opportunity to be heard.
